  6. General Notes:
  7.  
  8. The 'Setup Enlighten Destination Host(s)' interface allows you to add
  9. one or more hosts to the main install list.
  10.  
  11. To quickly modify the specified EMD and PEP hosts, double-click on
  12. these entries in the Main Install list.
  13.  
  14. Frequently large intranets will have many machines that need to be
  15. configured similarly, have the same root password, but are using
  16. different OSes.
  17.  
  18. If several hosts in your network have common settings (say, the root
  19. passwd, the installation directory, and all other settings other than
  20. OS are the same), type all of those hostnames into the 'Destination
  21. Host Information:Hostname(s)' field. A separate entry in the main
  22. install list will be created for every entry in this text field.
  23.  
  24. It may be useful to type as many hosts into the 'Hostname(s):' field,
  25. click ok (adding them to the list), and then modify the entries to
  26. suit the machine's individual needs.
  27.  
  28. If 'localhost' is entered as the EnlightenDSM Events SNMP TRAP Host or
  29. as one of the EnlightenDSM SysAdmin Configuration Managing Hosts, the
  30. gui will convert 'localhost' to the local hostname.

  32. This interface contains the following fields and toggles:
  33.  
  34. Hostname(s):
  35.  
  36. Use this list box to specify the host(s) where you will install the
  37. EnlightenDSM components specified in the EnlightenDSM Configuration area.
  38.  
  39. Common Root Passwd:
  40.  
  41. Use this field to specify the common root password for the hosts
  42. shown in the Hostname(s): field. If some of the hosts have different
  43. root passwords, they will remain in the Hostname(s): field after you
  44. OK this step and you can enter the root password for those hosts
  45. then.
  46.  
  47. OS Type:
  48.  
  49. This toggle selects the O/S type for the host's machine. Use the
  50. Auto Detect option (the default), especially if you have a
  51. heterogeneous intranet.

  53. EnlightenDSM Configuration
  54.  
  55. This area contains the following fields and toggles:

  57. EnlightenDSM GUI:
  58.  
  59. Use this toggle to Install or Don't Install the EnlightenDSM GUI.
  60.  
  61. EnlightenDSM SysAdmin:
  62.  
  63. Use this toggle to Install or Don't Install the EnlightenDSM SysAdmin.
  64.  
  65. EnlightenDSM Events:
  66.  
  67. Use this toggle to Install or Don't Install the EnlightenDSM Events.

  69. Installation Directory:
  70.  
  71. Use this field to specify the directory that will hold the EnlightenDSM
  72. components. A full installation requires 100 Mb of free disk space.

  74. Use the EMD on host:
  75.  
  76. This field defaults to the hostname for your EMD. You should leave
  77. this field with it's default value.

  79. Use the PEP on host:
  80.  
  81. This field defaults to the hostname for your PEP. You should leave
  82. this field with it's default value.

  84. Start daemons after install:
  85.  
  86. Restart daemons after reboot:
  87.  
  88. Make sure both of these toggles are "pushed-in" (the default) or the
  89. EnlightenDSM components will not come up automatically.

  91. If you want to manually configure your rc files, deselect the
  92. Restart daemons after reboot: button and add the call to <enlighten
  93. install dir>/bin/start_enl_daemons in your system startup file.

  95. EnlightenDSM Events Configuration
  96.  
  97. NOTE: You can disable EnlightenDSM SNMP functionality by typing "(disabled)"
  98. into the "SNMP TRAP host:" field and the "SNMP Community:" field.

  100. This area contains the following fields:
  101.  
  102. SNMP TRAP host:
  103.  
  104. You can use this field to specify a hostname on your intranet that
  105. is running an SNMP-aware system manager. If you don't have such a
  106. manager installed, leave this set to localhost (the default). This
  107. will be replaced by the actual hostname; localhost does not need to
  108. be defined in the local machine's /etc/host database file.
  109.  
  110. SNMP Community:
  111.  
  112. You can use this field to specify the COMMUNITY name of your SNMP
  113. network. The default is public.
  114.  
  115. EnlightenDSM SysAdmin Configuration
  116.  
  117. This area contains the following field:

  119. Managing Hosts:
  120.  
  121. Use this list box to specify which host(s) will be allowed to
  122. connect through the EnlightenDSM GUI to manage the hosts shown in the
  123. Hostname(s): list box. The default is your localhost.
  124.  
  125. Warning! If you leave this field blank, any host running the
  126. EnlightenDSM GUI can manage the hosts shown in the Hostname(s): field.
  127. You should only use this option if you have a firewalled intranet
  128. containing "trusted" hosts.
